A Molly Bloom Challenge ...

There is a new challenge blog and their first challenge is 'anything but a square' and you must use a Molly Bloom image. Well that bit is easy as I love my Molly's and have a few quite a lot okay I have a lot of them!

I used 3 new stamps on this card, I've never made a step card and it was so fiddly I'll be going straight back to my square cards!! Anyway, there it is. Now it's finished I'm not sure about it but one thing I do love - those beach huts :)

I love this little submarine. It's an element from Traci Reed's Rub A Dub digital kit and the paper is fab too! I think I will be using this kit a lot for boy cards

Dinosaur Rawr...

I love this little dinosaur from Melissa Bennett's Rawr 2.0 digital kit and he was just calling out to be turned into a shaped card. It's ages since I made a digi shape card but I do love them and this one will make a fab boy card. I added the star from the same kit and the little bone charm just seemed to go perfectly.  I added glossy accents to all the green spots to make them super shiny and then I took him out in the garden to have his photograph taken :)

Just Magnolia and Hanglar Challenge ...

The challenge this week over at the JM&H challenge blog is to create a love themed card or project. I've been wanting to colour up this little sweetie for a while and finally got around to it yesterday. My card didn't really go to plan so I changed it and made a dinky flower shaped card using my nestabilities instead

I realised when I was editing the photograph that I forgot to add her little freckles!

Crystal Wilkerson ...

Here I am catching up again :) I have lots of cards that I want to blog about so I have a record of them before I use them and with my computer issues and being so busy with my day job over the last month I am seriously behind so I'm going to try to play catch up this week :)

A while ago I discovered Crystal Wilkerson. Her blog is here and you can buy her digital designs here. She recently released her Sweet Summertime designs as a real paper line through the Echo Park manufacturer and I love everything about her designs! I already blogged some of my cards using her designs here.

(Sweet Summertime paper pack 2 and paper add ons, elements)

(Sweet Summertime elements, paper pack 2 and 3)

On Friday I downloaded another of her digital lines - Sweet Vintage Charm - so spent a little while yesterday playing with that

Little Cards ...

I have been making a few mini cards, just to keep when you need to send a note to someone or to pop in with a parcel to brighten someone's day :)

The little images are from Pink Cat Studio and the shapes were cut with my nestabilities dies

The Sun Is Shining ...

Hopefully this might be the start of Spring, keeping my fingers crossed because I bought some pretty new clothes at the weekend and they definitley look their best in the sunshine instead of hidden under several layers of sweatshirt, scarf and padded jacket!

I have made some sunshiney/spring inspired cards the other week using the Spring Breeze digital kit from Nitwit Collections. I love the colours and I do have a soft spot for ladybrids :)

I used some gorgeous black glitter on the spots of the big ladybird shaped card which you can't see very well in the photograph but it lookds very sparkly in real life and those little polka dot buttons are a recent purchase from Paper and String

Baa Baa!

I didn't make any Easter cards this year as they are just not something that our family would send but I did use some of the Easter/Spring themed products that I have to make cards for other purposes. Hence these two shaped cards made from the In The Meadow digital kit from Nitwit Collections which I have imaginatively titled Baa! and Baa Baa!

How To Make A Shaped Card ...

Poor neglected blog, it's been quite a while since I last updated it. I just never seem to have enough time to do everything I want to, need a few extra hours :)

Anyway, I have been making a few more shaped cards and when I was away with my lovely and talented friend Jane last weekend I showed her how I make them and I thought I would share on here too. I have used another cat from NitWit Collections, this time from the Me-Wow collection to make this cat shaped card.

Start by deciding how big you want your card and creating a new document at that size and 300 dpi in photoshop and placing the cat element. Don't worry that his tail doesn't fit as we are going to be creative with this part and do a spot of plastic surgery to resize it later on. When you are happy with the sizing print the document

Carefully cut around the cat and chop off his tail, yup - chop it clean off, it shouldn't hurt and we want it to be smaller!

Use a glue stick to reattach the tail at the back making it smaller

Next cover the whole of the back with glue (I use a Tombow gluestick), use some scrap paper under the cat so that you can glue right to the very edge then stick it to a sheet of white cardstock

Using a sharp craft knife carefully cut around the cat leaving a narrow border of a couple of millimetres

Next we are going to attach the cat to a folded cardblank. Position the cat over the folded cardblank, see how his tail and bottom stick up over the fold? The next step is to add strips of adhesive to the back of the cat to attach him to the cardblank but don't put any on his tail or bottom (the bits that stick up off the top)

After adhering the cat to the cardblank use your craft knife again to carefully cut all around the cat, use the edge of the cat as a guide for the knife and there is no need to leave a border this time. When you've cut all around you should have a cat shaped card and you'll have cut through both pieces of the cardblank

After you've cut the cat card out it's time to add an embellishment and sentiment if you'd like. I added a paper flower to my cat using one of the flower elements from the Me-Wow Collection. I just curled the edges of the petals between my thumb and finger, adhered to the cat and added a button tied with twine

Miaow ...

Can I just say that I am totally in love with this little cat from the Family Ties kit by Nitwit Collection. Totally in love!

And whilst I am declaring my love for the cat I think I should confess my love for the little doggie too
As you know I have loved Mary Fran's work for many years, you can see all the cards I have made with her designs here and I am delighted to say that we're working together again :)
Anyway, that's my love share on this damp and foggy Thursday morning

Flower Power ...

I have another shaped card to share today which started out life as a flower shaped digital element. I resized it to the size of my cards, added some patterned paper, printed a couple of copies out which I chopped up to create layers and then adhered to my card blank. I cut round the shape with a very sharp craft knife and added a tag and some ribbons (Papertrey) and hey presto You have a cheerful Best Wishes card.

That tag is made with a Stampin' Up! punch and it is the most used punch I have, I use it on almost every card I make as it's just the right size for adding a sentiment. Quite often I don't actually add sentiment wording to my cards but if I do I tend to use the tag punch
