A bit of a finishing off day...

I pulled out quite a few projects that I had in my cupboard that were at the almost finished stage this morning. First off was my knitting that I started way back in April. So you can't knit - normal people would start with something simple - a scarf perhaps or a pair of wonky legwarmers? Not me! No I would go for a whole ballerina bunny! with wrap around cardigan and ballet pumps. I have decided that knitting is not for me and she's been sat in the cupboard just waiting for a skirt and her features. I would still like to buy one of Little Cotton Rabbits creations when I have some spare pennies but for now I'll have Maggie May sitting in my room with me.

After Maggie May made her debut I moved onto those owls - Hooty and Tweet. I started them ages ago and then ran out of stuffing so they too have been residing in the cupboard. Sadly though, when I finished him I was really disappointed and he looked rather alien like and quite scary so sadly he went in the bin.

The postman finally arrived this afternoon - whoever heard of your morning post coming at 4 o' clock in the afternoon? but he did bring me the September edition of Card Trends magazine and my new cuttlebug embossing folders to play with - so that's where I'll be tonight - at my desk playing with my new goodies :)

Another one for DCM...

I made another card for the current DCM challenge, this time with a lovely smiley photograph of Ela. She's just a sweetie pie!

Happy Monday...

We are having a pyjama day today, well I am anyway - Mam has her comfy clothes on and is wearing the sling on her arm watching television and reading as she can't go to work. Her shoulder is beginning to feel better but she still can't move her arm very far. Whilst she's doing not a lot I'm making cards - again and being her 'reach me fetch me' assisstant.

A Busy Weekend...

Yesterday we went to the Baltic, a centre for contemporary art at the Quayside to see the Beryl Cook exhibition. The other exhibits were just so off the scale that I would go as far as saying they were appalling and the 'artists' and I call them that loosely must surely need some sort of mental health intervention. Anyway, we enjoyed the Beryl Cook stuff and it meant that I actually left my workbench for a couple of hours!

Last night I had a break too and watched Dante's Peak for about the 40th time - I love love love disaster movies and anything with erupting volcanoes gets my vote any time.


Today I made another Bella card and then some stuff that I can't share because it's for a secret assignment that came out of the blue and made my Friday night! I've had good news in another direction too but that's staying secret for a little while too. Even more good news is the Design Team gallery is up at A Trip Down Memory Lane and I was asked to be guest designer again this month.



I spent the early afternoon at the local hospital walk in unit with my poorly Mommy who has damaged the muscles in her shoulder and came home with a sling, hopefully the pain should ease soon and she is being waited on superbly by yours truly and I even took over chef duties for tea tonight!!

I was on my way to bed but then I started blog hopping and then of course I decided to make another card so this one is for the challenge at DCM:

This week I want you to make a card for any occasion but it must include a photograph somewhere! The photo subject can be people, items, locations, flowers, absolutely anything so get snapping.

I had a quick look in my work in progress drawer and found some photographs from when I went to the RHS garden in Harrogate at half term, used pink petticoat patterned paper, a label holder cut with my sizzix and some ribbon. I had to take the photograph indorrs as it is now 12:20 and obviously very dark outside!!

Oh My Goodness, I love these stamps...

I took delivery of some Bella stamps today. If you haven't seen them yet then look here. I got five stamps and made a couple of cards this afternoon. I love them so much and can see this turning into another obsession!

I spent most of the day today having a huge sort out in my workshop area in the utility room. It feels like a lifetime since I moved out of my workshop and make a den in the utility room, all my supplies are stored in various rooms around the house and I needed to have a sort out of basics and essentials that I need with me. Anyway, it's done now - not sure how long it will stay this organised for!!

More Tilda Cards...

I spent a lovely day yesterday doing nothing other than make cards with my newly discovered Tilda stamps. All these cards are hand tinted with watercolours and I really enjoyed the quiet time spent in my workshop. When I go back to school in September they will go into my card box to sell but if anyone is interested, I sell them for £1.50 and postage would be negotiable dependent on how many you wanted. Anyone reading this who has a shop could easily sell them for more than that and they would be great alongside other Tilda merchandise - wink wink Kim!

Speaking of Tilda, I had a message on my phone to say the new Tilda pattern book is in stock at The Fat Quarters so I need to pop along there next week to buy that.

A Grand Day Out...

Last night whilst I was looking for the RHS membership card I found a voucher to get into Beamish Museum for free (it's been on the notice board since about February so was buried under a whole stack of other less important things!). So we changed our plans as the weathermen had given us a sunny forecast and headed off to Beamish instead of Harrogate. It's only about 15 minutes drive from us but we've never been there so it was all new to us.

Today we have:

travelled on a tram and a bus

been back to school

been down the pit

shopped at the sweetie shop - delicious goodies to sustain us on our adventure

visited the dentist

methodist chapel

garage

printers

solicitor

farm

tea rooms - cherry scone yum yum!

co-operative stores

manor house

We had a lovely day and would highly recommend a visit if you are in the North East.
